A bit gutted that Elsie and I feature very prominently in the photo chosen to accompany this article in Thursday's Daily Mail....although not entirely surprised, given the newspaper it's in!

There are many things I dislike about the journalist's claims; mainly where she states 'breasts, by their nature, are sexual'...umm, no they're not.  The primary purpose of breasts is to feed our young: it is society which views them as anything else!!

Anyway, I'm not going to dwell on this because I'm still very proud of the fact that Elsie and I took part in the public feed together.

Tuesday has been my favourite day this week.  We (myself, Elsie and one of my minded children) took a trip to the seaside, and picked up a few bargains en-route!  I don't know how it's taken me so long to discover the treasure trove that is: Dunelm Mill, but I love it!  We popped into a branch on a local retail park as I wanted to price up some fabric. It was a flying visit because we had loads to do, but I loved it and I'll definitely be back when I have more time!

We did pick up some bargains....a set of 3 cake tins for £1.24! And a Winnie the Pooh and Tiggera cushion for Elsie for £1.99 each:

Ladies, Babies, Boobies, Bargains and Footy...

I bet most people 'ummed and ahhed' about what to include in their first EVER blog post. 'How do I capture the real me?'...... well, this weekend has been filled with a number of the things that sum me up, so it seems as good a place to start as any!

On Saturday morning I got myself and Elsie (who you will come to hear a LOT about) dressed as we were off into Newcastle to take part in a public breastfeeding event organised by two local mammies as a reaction to the ridiculous incident involving Emily Slough last week.  Women were gathering in various parts of the country as a show of solidarity to Emily, and also in an attempt to normalise breastfeeding.  As a breastfeeding advocate myself, this is definitely something I wanted to be a part of; although I agree with anyone who says that this sort of thing shouldn't be necessary in this day and age!

The 'event' was due to take place at 12pm. We got into town at about 10.45.  It was just the two of us as my husband was working.  I hate driving to Newcastle by myself, so I decided we'd get the bus and the metro in.  This was music to Elsie's ears as she LOVES getting the bus. She spent the entire journey singing 'round round bus' (her verion of 'The Wheels on the Bus) and then proceeded to be even more delighted when we got on the 'train' too!

So yes, we got to town early, and I thought it would just be churlish not to have a quick look around Primark to pass the time!  We only had about 40 minutes in there, but I managed to leave with this bonny haul:

 

 

as well as a fun melon print top which didn't make it into this photo as I'm currently wearing it!

Elsie also chose a very stylish pair of shades for herself:

 

So with about half an hour to go, we made our way to the Monument.  At this point there was only one other mam and baby and I started to worry, but I needn't have as by the time mid-day rolled around there were upward of 60 mams feeding as many babies!

 I could've spent a lot longer in town, enjoying a girlie lunch etc. but we had to hotfoot it home as I had tickets for the footy which, as I'm a Sunderland fan, we'll say no more about!

Sunday was mainly spent starting to clear out the spare room as I plan on using it as a 'Girls' Room' for Elsie's nice toys and for my sewing machine and crafts.  I can't wait 'til it's ready, but I detest clearing rooms as I'm a total hoarder and it always takes ages - my husband always goes mad at me for the amount of stuff I'm emotionally attached to!

When enough was enough though, we headed out for a late lunch, which the littlest McGeorge simply had to finish off with an 'ice ceem'...still wearing her new shades.  Of course.
